Sterling unable to join Premier League club

It appears Raheem Sterling's hopes of playing in the Premier League this season are over as the former Chelsea winger failed to secure a move before the deadline set for clubs to register their new squad for the final part of the league campaign.

Clubs had to submit their squads by Thursday February 5, allowing free agents like Sterling, who left Chelsea by mutual consent last month, a chance to sign for a team after the January transfer window.

However, no deal has materialised, forcing the former England international to look elsewhere for his next club.

The only exception is if a club does not use all their 25 spaces when they register their squad on February 5. They can then add free agents up until the fourth Thursday in March.

As it stands, there is believed to be no Premier League clubs that have failed to name 25 players in their squad.
